I’m sharing Teddy Soft Bakes in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™” #myfirstTeddy #discoverTeddy
With spring on the way I was excited to try my hand at gardening some herbs and vegetables in my back yard. I am by no means a green thumb, but after picking up tips and tidbits from some friends and neighbors this winter I am optimistic that this year will have success. The last couple of weekends I’ve been getting everything set up, from damage control with weeding to getting the fertilizer and also putting up a fence to keep the bunnies and neighbor’s cat out!
These gardening experiences have already been more enjoyable than any other year. The reason for that is because I have my two kids as little helpers at my side. At first I thought it’d be a good chore to add to both of their lists, but it’s turned out to be something they’re excited for and are now constantly asking to check on the garden to see if anything’s showing (“not yet, give it time kids”). Both kids enjoyed planting seeds tilling the soil. My daughter especially likes taking the watering spout and giving every little seed more than enough water. They were even helpful at the store, deciding which vegetables to pick out. It will make it easier to get them to eat veggies later when they themselves were the ones who gardened them.
I grabbed a couple of photos of the kids hard at work in the garden, they look so cute with the oversized gloves and garden hoe in-hand. The best part is the look of discovery on their faces, wide eyed and taking it all in. That look is priceless, I see it once or twice a week with them and as a mom it makes my day every time. I saw it recently when I took them to the drive in movies (so much fun, I highly recommend doing this if you have one near your city), and when I recently took them to the children’s theater for the first time. When they unwrapped Teddy Soft Bakes for the very first time it was similarly an expression of sheer joy and excitement. My daughter loves teddy bears and to have a big, deliciously edible bear made it so much more than just a snack. My son is a little older than her but was equally enthralled with eating the bear, it’s he just plain likes it more than other snacks with the fun factor of eating a big bear. Both love the taste with its chocolate or vanilla filled center!
I remind myself not to forget to see the world through kids’ eyes, where a little extra effort to get that them involved in things can introduce them to a new world. I take opportunities to brighten up their days with those little things like helping me out in the garden or letting them have their Teddy Soft Bakes, which they’re now asking for by name and seem to enjoy just as much each and every time.
