My Morning Routine to Make my Entire Day More Productive

Why Creating a Morning Routine is Important?

Today I am going to share my morning routine to make my entire day more productive.   The biggest component of which is breakfast as it boosts my energy for the day, something critical to me getting through as a working mom!

I am not a morning person and struggle to wake up every day.  My 3 years old daughter often acts as my alarm clock, and much like a snooze button I’m always asking her to give me just 5 more minutes of sleep!. Mornings can be tough, especially when I have to drive my kids to their two different schools.   In addition to showering and getting them dressed I have to pack their lunches and make sure that they get enough food to eat in the mornings. Two kids is tough, hats off to you moms that have more! I always discover new ideas to mix into my morning routine

I firmly stand by the fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  It kick starts our metabolism and give the energy we need to  get things done.  A solid breakfast will bring focus and help burn calories throughout the day.  By filling your stomach with good stuff in the morning you will also prevent overeating or reaching for bad snacks later in the day.

So here’s my daily morning routine to make my entire day more productive:

  1. Drink lemon water as soon as I wake up to spike my energy levels
  2. Eat a real breakfast that’s high in fiber and protein. Since i always wake up late, I try to prepare my breakfast meals the night before.  I often do overnight prep of oatmeal and eggs ( boiled or omelet).  Breakfast biscuits are another great way to and have no prep time.  These high protein and fiber meals keep me full longer and boost my energy.
  3. Take a quick shower and spray my body with my favorite fragrance. It’s little things like this that can boost our moods.
  4. Have a cup of coffee or green tea.  I love dark coffee with soy creamer and no sugar.  Matcha green tea is my go-to tea as it’s both healthy and delicious.  Jasmine tea is another one that I mix in to my rotation for variety.
  5. NO screen time before dropping my kids off at school. I don’t even check my work email before dropping them off. This is a great way for me to stay focused on one thing at the time and get things done accordingly.  Note:  I don’t multitask, it’s overrated and often decreases efficiency and performance.

I was recently introduced to SnackWell’s Biscuit Thins. There is no question that I am very familiar with the brand and am hooked on some of the other SnackWell’s products like Creme Sandwich Cookies (they’re so good!).  The SnackWell’s Biscuit Thins are tasty too with a unique coffee flavor.  They are tasty on their own, and my husband and I also enjoy dipping them in milk or coffee.  Since I am all about healthy food I really appreciate that they are free of partially hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup and fat free!  They also have more whole grains than any other brand with a whopping 24g of whole grain per serving.

These biscuit thins are perfect for my busy family lifestyle. Each package contains 4 thin biscuits, so I can eat the all at once or conveniently put some aside to snack on later. The cute inspiration words {Love, Amaze, Bliss, Happy and Shine} inscribed on the biscuits are a nice touch, especially on one of my groggy mornings!  SnackWell’s Biscuit Thins can be found in the cookie isle of your local Walmart store. Choose from the diverse flavor options:  Caramel Macchiato (Buttery caramel & espresso, my personal favorite!), French Vanilla (just as it sounds with a nice creamy taste), and Dark Chocolate Mocha (this one has the boldest taste with rich dark chocolate and mocha flavors).

On a final note, here are some of my other tips for your daily routine:

  1. Take a quick break every hour of work. For me it should be long enough to do 25 – 50 squats.. This routine continues throughout the day to keep me up and my stamina strong.
  2. Find new challengeslearn new things and find inspiration every day. This is a great way to prevent burn-out.
  3. Never skip meals. For lunch I love a salad and fresh fruit, and for snacks often have homemade smoothies or biscuits/bars.  I am the type of person who can eat non-stop throughout the day, so I look for healthier alternative foods that are low in fat and calories but high in fiber and protein to keep me full.  I can satisfy my hunger without worrying about gaining weight.
  4. When I feel exhausted.. I don’t force myself to work. I will take a break, relax, turn on a candle or aromatherapy. My favorite scents to relax me are jasmine, lavender or peppermint.  They revitalize my mood and are a great way to relieve stress between long working hours.
  5.  I stay firm on when to stop working each night.  Reading to my kids and getting them to sleep trumps anything to do with work. If urgent I can always resume later and try to finish everything that needs to be done before I go to sleep.
  6. I also make sure that I have my work schedule is ready for the next day.
  7. Always clean my work space the night before.
  8. Set up goals for next day. Assign times to my to-do list and keep track of the progress.

SnackWell’s launched in 1992 as one of the most iconic brands of the 90’s. SnackWell’s was on the cutting edge of the low-fat trend with its Fat-Free Devil’s Food Cookie Cakes.

You can’t get through the day without a good breakfast. If you don’t have the time for a good meal, then these snack bars would be the perfect thing! I haven’t tried these, but I bet they are good!

No screen time before getting my son ready is a good idea. I will try this next time so I can focus more to my son.

I just love the French Vanilla. BTW I love your routine tips. I think that you have a good routine there. I never work when I’m tired because that’s when I do my worse work. 🙁

It really does start with a good morning! I know I struggle to get the rest of my day on track when my morning isn’t quite going well.

No screen time is a great idea. My kids don’t have it before school but I never apply the rule to myself. I think I’ll try to do this next week!
