If you read my blog then you know that one of my ultimate goals is to have and create dishes that have a balance of being tasty and nutritious. I like to think that I do a pretty good job building those dishes from scratch, but sometimes it can tough even finding ten or fifteen minutes to do so.

I’m constantly keeping an eye out for items in the store that make the mark, and come school time the search ramps up exponentially. Some of my kids’ teachers tell me that I prepare the healthiest lunches in the whole classroom. I take pride in that, I guess that I’m lucky that both of my kids grew to like vegetables from a young age.

When preparing their lunches, I keep a big focus on protein, veggies, healthy dairy options, grains and fruit. To keep them happy I like to add a snack option too, and that’s when an especially keen eye comes into play.

There are so many bad options out there, it’s important to look for wholesome ingredients you recognize, and stay away from snacks with high-fructose corn syrup. I personally look for Non-GMO verified snacks, too. Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars are a treat that my kids love and check each of these boxes.

It’s one of the rare snacks that my kids go crazy for that is actually mom-approved (by me, one of the tougher critics that I know). I like that I’m selective with food and hope my kids some-day appreciate all of the healthier options I’m choosing for them!

It’s great that Nature’s Bakery provides that as an option. On a similar note, the bars are kosher, dairy-free, soy-free and nut-free. Food allergies seem to be on the rise and I know a lot of parents will be very happy to find this as

On a final note, I thought it was funny that I asked each of my family members their favorite flavor and received three different answers. My husband said fig, my son said blueberry, and my daughter said “raspberry, with a glass of milk to dip it in!”.
