    Summer has arrived and my cravings have begun for a daily, fruity refresher drink. I love adding fresh fruits and veggies into my summer drink recipes, or at the very least some plain ice water with a fresh squeeze of lemon or cucumber. These drink are always perfect for taking in some rays and fresh air, and something my kids can enjoy, too.

    While these fresh fruit drinks taste delicious, they can also be high in sugar. As harmless as these drinks sound by drinking too much of them could lead to big weight gains and other issues that come with a high sugar intake. My body naturally seems to need less food in the summer but with the heat it never seems to get enough of a refreshing drink, so with too much sugar that could be especially bad.  With SPLENDA ZERO™ Liquid Sweetener, I can enjoy my favorite drinks, such as tea or summer drink recipes without worrying about calories and extra carbs.

    Today I am going to show you how to make an easy fruit drink that has some pizazz in its color and taste.

    Cherry juice has high levels of antioxidants and anthocyanin, a natural anti-inflammatory.  It’s not a drink people often think of but, like the cherry itself stands apart and can be used to make some amazing recipes.

    Skinny Summer Drink Cherry Tart Lemonade

    Ingredients
     

    • ¾ cup of fresh lemon juice
    • 2 cups of tart cherry juice, pure-unsweetened
    • 3 cups of club soda/sparkling water
    • sweetener
    • ice cubes

    Instructions
     

    • Pour all of the ingredients into chilled glassed.
    • Add sweetener to sweeten to your liking, if desired
    • Add some ice and serve immediately.

    *Note: Please be aware that at one 8-ounce serving of tart cherry juice contains 140 calories and 25 grams of sugar.  This is another reason why I don’t want to add any additional sugar.
