Ingredients
 

Homemade Marinara Sauce

  • 1 can (28 oz) San Marzano tomatoes or Crushed Tomatoes
  • ¼ cup Olive Oil, extra virgin
  • 2 small Onions, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic Cloves, finely chopped
  • ½ cup White Wine
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 Sprig Basil, fresh
  • ¼ teaspoon Oregano, dried

Italian Sausage Pasta and Chard

  • ¾ pound Italian Chicken Sausage
  • 1 bunch Chard, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil, extra virgin
  • 2 cloves Garlic, fresh
  • 12-16 ounces Dry Pasta of your choice, uncooked

Instructions
 

Homemade Marinara Sauce

  • In a large skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium heat
  • Add onions and cook until tender for about 2 minutes
  • Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds-1 minute, do not let it brown
  • Add the wine and cook for about 2 minutes
  • Add tomatoes, basil and oregano, cook and simmer until thickened for about 15 minutes
  • Remove from the heat and set aside

Italian Sausage Pasta and Chard

  • Cook the pasta as the label directs (or about 11 minutes)
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil, salt generously and add chard. Blanch for about 2 minutes.
  • Drain the chard and squeeze out excess water. Set aside.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add sausage, cook and keep stirring until browned for about 3 minutes.
  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  • Stir in the pasta sauce and cook for about 2 minutes.
  • Add the chard, cooked pasta to the skillet, mix together with the sauce and cook for another 3 minutes. 
  • Sprinkle with cheese and serve immediately.
