Equipment

  • a saucepan with a lid

Ingredients

  • 6-8 whole eggs, large (depending on the size of your saucepan)
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Place the eggs in a saucepan and add cool water (the waterline should be an inch over the eggs). Add ½ teaspoon of salt.  Make sure that you put the eggs in a single layer, do not stack them on top of each other.
  2. Bring the water to a full rolling boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-high. Cover the pan and continue cooking for 8 minutes.
  3. Remove the eggs from the heat and transfer them to a large bowl with ice-cold water. Let the eggs cool down for at least 5 minutes, then peel or keep them in the fridge for later use.

Notes

To make hard-boiled in an air fryer
  • Preheat the air fryer to 265°F.
  • Put the eggs in the air fryer basket, in a single layer then cook for 15 minutes or up to 22 minutes if you are using an air fryer oven.
  • Remove the eggs from the air fryer and transfer them to a large bowl with ice-cold water. Let the eggs cool down for at least 5 minutes, then peel or keep them in the fridge for later use.
You can store the hard-boiled eggs in the fridge for up to 7 days. Whether peeled or unpeeled it's not recommended to store hard-boiled eggs in the freezer, as the white part will become watery and tough.
