Ingredients
 

Homemade Marinara Sauce
  • 1 can (28 oz) San Marzano tomatoes or Crushed Tomatoes
  • ¼ cup Olive Oil extra virgin
  • 2 small Onions finely chopped
  • 2 garlic Cloves finely chopped
  • ½ cup White Wine
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 Sprig Basil fresh
  • ¼ teaspoon Oregano dried
Italian Sausage Pasta and Chard
  • ¾ pound Italian Chicken Sausage
  • 1 bunch Chard fresh
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil extra virgin
  • 2 cloves Garlic fresh
  • 12-16 ounces Dry Pasta of your choice uncooked

Method

Homemade Marinara Sauce
  1. In a large skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium heat
  2. Add onions and cook until tender for about 2 minutes
  3. Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds-1 minute, do not let it brown
  4. Add the wine and cook for about 2 minutes
  5. Add tomatoes, basil and oregano, cook and simmer until thickened for about 15 minutes
  6. Remove from the heat and set aside
Italian Sausage Pasta and Chard
  1. Cook the pasta as the label directs (or about 11 minutes)
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, salt generously and add chard. Blanch for about 2 minutes.
  3. Drain the chard and squeeze out excess water. Set aside.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add sausage, cook and keep stirring until browned for about 3 minutes.
  6. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  7. Stir in the pasta sauce and cook for about 2 minutes.
  8. Add the chard, cooked pasta to the skillet, mix together with the sauce and cook for another 3 minutes. 
  9. Sprinkle with cheese and serve immediately.
