Asparagus
Fresh asparagus is available all year round. It's also one of the most nutritionally well-balanced vegetables.
Asparagus is high in folic acid and a good source of potassium, fiber, thiamin, and vitamins A, B6, and C. You can learn more about the health benefits here.
How to Prepare Asparagus for Cooking:
These are the very basic steps to prepare asparagus for cooking:
- Wash and drain well.
- Trim it. The pale ends of each stalk are tough and woody. It's important to trim the ends before cooking.
Some people tend to bend the end of each stalk with their thumbs and forefingers until it breaks.
I personally prefer to line up all of the spears in a row, then slice off the ends all at once with a sharp knife. This makes for a nicer presentation and avoids snapping off too much of the edible green stalk.
How Long Do I Cook Bacon Wrapped Asparagus:
The cooking time may vary and will depend on several factors, such as:
- The thickness of bacon and asparagus
- The batch size used
- Type and size of pan used
- Methods of heat transfer. Cooking asparagus on a grill takes less time than in an oven.
